STUDIO
Our people combines decades of experience in the design of complex structures, and high-rise construction, managing and coordinating consultants’ teams, stakeholders and clients on major projects. We have worked alongside and coordinated works of various project stakeholders including: client representatives, government agencies, commercial and legislative parties, services, systems and structural engineers, cost consultants, project managers, design consultants, and artists.
Naturally curious, sometimes provocative, but always thoughtful in what we do. We believe a democratic design process creates the best outcomes. When everyone is involved, we’re getting the best out of the experiences and creativity that others can bring to the table. We embrace a collaborative process, whether it’s with clients, consultants or fellow designers. That’s why we’re always seeking talent and expertise.

Furtado Sullivan brings together the combined skills of Sandra Furtado and Peter Sullivan. They have had a working relationship that began more than 10 years ago. Projects they have been integral to are numerous, significant, and as ground-breaking as International Towers 1,2 & 3 at Barangaroo, 8 Chifley and One Circular Quay Hotel, working alongside clients such as Mirvac, Lendlease, Wanda, Yuhu Group, and Aqualand amongst others. With these projects, they developed a rigorous design process and framework that enriches their work.
Sandra Furtado
Director
M. Arch, M. BE (Sustainable Development)
Sandra began her architectural journey over 30 years ago, when she started designing imaginary projects as a young child. With technical support provided by her father, she began testing her first ideas on paper using different model-making techniques and experimenting with various materials. Her inquisitive nature and curiosity is still present today in everything she puts her mind to.
She has been intrinsically involved in notable large-scale projects including 8 Chifley, Barangaroo Masterplan and International Towers. As Design Director at Crone Architects, Sandra led the design of the One Circular Quay hotel, in collaboration with Kengo Kuma and Associates studio in Japan, driving the vision and design aspirations on the development.
Since completing a master’s degree in Sustainable Development in 2012, Sandra has been championing environmental and systems thinking in her design approach as she believes interdisciplinary dialogue is a critical component for innovation to emerge.
Sandra takes a holistic approach to design, respecting context and ecology, challenging how we create buildings as both singular entities as well as part of a greater urban system. She regularly speaks at industry events, raising awareness around architecture and resilient design.
Peter Sullivan
Director
B.Arch (Hons)
With an architectural career that has traversed all scales, from the intimate to the urban scale, Peter has always held a fascination for how individuals experience and respond to the cities in which they live.
Working with globally acclaimed Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners on the Barangaroo development, Peter lead the podiums, lobbies and public domain teams of the International Towers, taking the project from concept through to design development, and with Lendlease he took the project to completion.
Notwithstanding his passion for the urban scale Peter has worked on highly crafted, small-scale residential architecture and interior projects, which has instilled in him a detailed and holistic architectural approach. His skill in crafting façades at a commercial level is evidenced in his collaborations with Tzannes, and Kengo Kuma.
Peter was an elected Councillor at the Australian Institute of Architects NSW from 2019-2021, and during his time was founding member of the National Climate Action and Sustainability Taskforce, Chair of the AIA NSW Built Environment Committee, and Sustainability Committee, and was an adviser to the NSW Governments Building Commisioners Working Group, during the drafting and implementation of the Design & Building Practitioners Act. He maintains an ongoing role as casual academic in design at UNSW & UTS.
He has always sought to improve the quality of the built environment, through design, sustainability, education and construction. These principles and aspirations are manifest in his architectural practices current work.
